🚛 Position Summary
The Heavy Vehicle Driver (Code 14) is responsible for safely transporting trailers and manufactured goods between AFRIT facilities, clients, inspection centres, and event locations. The role requires professionalism, safety awareness, and strong driving experience with heavy-duty vehicles.
📦 Key Responsibilities
🚚 Transportation Duties
- Transport trailers and goods between company sites and clients
- Deliver trailers to COF (Certificate of Fitness) inspection centres
- Move trailers to exhibitions, shows, and events
- Ensure timely and safe deliveries across various routes
🔧 Vehicle Care & Inspections
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Identify and report mechanical issues or defects
- Perform minor roadside checks or repairs when necessary
- Ensure the vehicle is always roadworthy and safe
📋 Record Keeping
- Complete delivery logs and inspection reports
- Maintain accurate bills of lading and transport documents
- Ensure compliance with company reporting standards
🛣️ Route & Time Management
- Plan efficient travel routes
- Adjust for traffic, weather, and road conditions
- Ensure on-time deliveries and reduce delays
🛡️ Safety & Compliance
- Follow all road traffic laws and transport regulations
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures
- Ensure safe handling of cargo and equipment at all times
🤝 Communication & Conduct
- Communicate professionally with clients and staff
- Report delivery updates and issues promptly
- Maintain a positive company image during all interactions
🎯 Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric (preferred)
- Valid Code 14 (EC) driver’s license (mandatory)
- Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit) (mandatory)
- Minimum 3 years’ heavy vehicle driving experience
- Good understanding of road safety and logistics operations
