The Tsolo Agriculture and Rural Development Institute (TARDI), in collaboration with the Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA), invites applications from motivated, unemployed South African youth for a 36-month Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship Programme.

This programme is part of South Africa’s national artisan development strategy aimed at addressing the critical shortage of skilled diesel mechanics and creating sustainable employment pathways for young people in technical trades.

  • Phase 1: Institutional Training (Theory & Practical) – 6 Months
  • Phase 2: Workplace Experiential Training – 24 Months
  • Phase 3: Trade Test Preparation & Final Assessment – 6 Months

Please note that institutional training will NOT take place at Tsolo Campus.

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of:

πŸŽ“ MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Age between 18 and 33 years
  • Currently unemployed (affidavit required)
  • Must hold N2 or higher qualification in:
    • Diesel Mechanic
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Motor Mechanics
    • Related Engineering Studies
  • Must have passed:
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering Science / Physical Science

🌟 PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO:

  • Youth from the Eastern Cape Province
  • TVET College graduates
  • Female applicants
  • Persons living with disabilities
